I remember when I was a little girl, my mom always went to shopping mall with me on the weekend for shopping. However, my mom hasn’t been to the shopping mall for more than one year now. Instead of going to a shopping mall, all my mom has to do is open her laptop, select the items that she wants, and pay.

In fact, more people than ever before in history are using the Web to shop for a wide variety of items, from shoes to airplane tickets, even to houses. Online shopping has formed an overwhelming tide sweeping across the whole world and become increasingly important in people’s life. It is incredible convenience, comparative prices, infinite choices makes it an excellent substitute for traditional shopping. Online shopping offers people incredible convenience. In comparison to a brick and mortar store with fixed hours, online shoppers can choose any time of the day or night to get on the Web and shop. This is especially useful for moms with small children,

people that are home-bound, or simply in times of inclement weather; also when you just need to get the item within a certain amount of time, online shopping is certainly the best choice for you. Online shopping along with its fabulous convenience has already become an indispensable part in people’s life.

According to CNIT Research, there are about 310,000,000 people have gone shopping online in the 2013. In my point of view, online shopping has developed not only make our life more convenient, but also changing our life. According to the “WGBH News”, “Shopping is not pleasant. It’s painful,” Anderson explains. “What’s your time worth? Is it worth 10, 20, 50 dollars an hour? To go to any physical store, and pick up something, and take it back takes an hour. So whether I am buying food, or whether I am buying Apple computers, or whether I am buying music — that pain, especially at this time of year — becomes onerous.” It is true, time is money. By online shopping we can buy everything at home just by clicking on the mouse. Shopping on the Internet can save us a great deal of time on the way between home and store, so we would be able to focus more time and energy on our work and study. The Internet has also made  the distance between consumers and businesses short. Therefore we can even buy goods in other countries, not only from the store that we can drive to.

Moreover, according to the “WGBH News”,  “After all, the aforementioned Amazon, king of all online retailers, is now worth $110 billion. Compare that to Macy’s, which is worth $16 billion; JCPenney, which is worth $4 billion; and Sears, which is worth $5 billion.” Macy’s, JCPenney, and Sears they all have the traditional shop. On the other hand, Amazon only the online shop, but Amazon also could swallow them all whole. Therefore, as you can see, online shopping is way more popular than traditional shopping in nowadays.

In article “The impact of online shopping on retail property”, “In the developed world, 77 out of every 100 people are now connected to the internet2. This high level of internet penetration coupled with a generation brought up online and familiar with the digitally connected lifestyle, we think has led to comfort in sharing their personal details online. With this comfort in using both the internet and sharing personal details, it seems inevitable that savvy retailers would capitalise on these favourable market characteristics.”
